About our school and our class
For a number of years Tsai Hsing School in Taipei, Taiwan has collaborated with the Chinese American International School and Menlo School in San Francisco. These three schools had their students record what they did for one day and compared the results between the continents. Students were surprised to learn how differently they spend their days. In Taiwan, nap time and "cram school" were common weekday activities while sports and other extra curricular activities dominated in the US. Afterwards, students asked, "What about students in other countries? Do they spend their time differently?" The BigDayta Project sprang from that question.
Tsai Hsing School in Taipei, Taiwan is a K-12 school that has partnered with Banyan Global Learning to provide a rigorous and unique English instruction program. Students have 1:1 iPads and work with teachers based in LA, as well as collaborating with numerous schools around the United States.

Hello world, my name is Amy. I live in Taipei, Taiwan. As you can see, our country is beautiful, though we are just a small island. I’m grade six in Tsai Hsing school. I’m going to tell you something about our class.
Our class is call 601, our English and math usually are better than the other five classes, because if you want to come to 601, your English and math must be good. We have a lot of distance learning class, in the class, we talk to the teacher who is in Los Angeles, America. We have two teachers to teach us about English, one is teacher Travis, and the other one is teacher Steve. They will teach us many things, like fables, Greek myths, Ancient China, Greek gods, blogs, newscast...... We all use iPad to study, and write homework that the teacher gives us. We use English to talk, also the teacher teach us a little bit of Spanish and French. Our class has a lot of English in class, of course have distance learning class, but we also have a Chinese teacher to teach us English. I think we have eleven English classes in one week, it's more than the other classes.WELCOME TO 601!!!
Hello world!!! We are 601, the best class from Tsai Hsing school. There are 42 students in our class. We have DL class, we use iPad to do our DL homework. we also make videos and give to the students that are not in Taiwan. We have DL(distance learning) class, we use iPad to do our DL homework. We use internet to FaceTime the teachers from Los Angeles. We face time them, so the teacher doesn't need to come to Taiwan, they can teach us in Los Angeles. We use iPad to do our homework, we don't need to write on a book and give it to the teacher, we can type in the iPad. We use iPad to make videos, we made many videos. Newscast, food project, these all are our group homework, we use iPads in other subjects too.

We are the students in Taiwan. Our school is Tsai Hsing. The school is big and pretty. There is a lot of trees and flowers in our school. In school, we like to play basketball, and we always play it at break time. Our favorite subject is Physical Education, because in Physical Education class, we can relax.
The thing special of our class is we have seven DL class a week, and our DL teachers are from Los Angeles, and they taught us a lot of things that are interesting like Greek Myth, Ancient Greece, Japan and fables. We think the things are all interesting.

Tsai Hsing is a huge school. We have kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school and senior high school but we don’t have a university. I don’t know why, either!
In our class mostly people like to play basketball during the break time. On weekends some of classmates will invite other friends to play basketball together. Of course we like to play video games. And we will be friend in video game when we play together.

My name is Wesley. There are many things in our school, like the basketball court playground and there is a big hill behind our school, sometimes many kids will go to the playground or basketball court near the kindergarten. The insects or animals (cats, dogs, sometimes snakes) on the hill will come into our school. Sometimes it makes us very surprised and scared. There is a pretty gear fountain in front of our school. And the children in primary school will run down to the big lawn to kick soccer in the break time.
Our logo of the school is a gear, I think it means “Improve the academic”, it is interesting!"
We have a lot of subjects, like math, music...In all of the subject, most interesting and most fun is Distance learning class, we use computer to Face time the teacher in Los Angeles, they will teach us a lot of cool things. We read the Greek god story and know why the Trojan war happened. We also use iPads to take a video and tell everyone how we shop in Taiwan.
I am very glad to be the student in our class, I love my classmate and love my class, my school.
